Other Diet Types
There are a variety of well-known diets for the taking. One example is the acid alkaline diet that is popular with holistic nutritionists because it encourages a properly balanced diet to help to encourage health and well being and to help prevent diseases such as cancer. Other diet types include the best bet diet, the blood type diet and the breatharian diet. The best bet diet accentuates the positive and discourages the negative in eating habits. This diet believes that eating the wrong food can cause the immune system to be less effective. Peter D’Adamo created the blood type diet and it espouses the belief that blood type is the determining factor in what makes a nutritious diet. The breatharian diet is practiced by people who are breatharians, which is Hindu in nature. Breatharians believe that food and water is not enough to sustain life by the energy from sunlight (and vitamin D) is necessary as well. |

Other diet types include the calorie restriction diet, the detox diet and the fruitarian diet. The calorie restriction diet or calorie restriction (CR) is all about limiting calories in order to slow the aging process and to improve the overall level of health. Research has shown that this kind of diet is able to lower cholesterol levels as well as blood pressure. The detox diet teaches that eliminating the body of waste and removing toxins and other kinds of contaminants helps to improve energy levels, resist a number of diseases, improves digestion, improves mental functioning and it effective for weight loss. The fruitarian diet is followed by fruitarians who are a subgroup of vegans who consume only the fruit part of plants. This includes fruits such as apples, berries tomatoes, squash, etc. There is more than one kind of fruitarian and some also different kinds of nuts and seeds.
Other diet types include the Sonoma diet and the South Beach diet. The Sonoma diet has been shown through various studies to be effective fro weight loss because it combines the art of eating with the science of food. There are simple instructions for this diet type and the combinations of food make it a pleasurable way to drop pounds. A cardiologist from Miami, Florida by the name of Arthur Agatston created the South Beach diet and it is concerned with the taking in of both “good fats” and “good carbs.” This diet was designed after many years of scientific study based on his patients. |
