Diet Pills
Diet pills do not undergo the same rigorous trials that prescription drugs must undergo as well as over-the-counter forms of medication. The FDA does not have to approve of a particular diet pill before it is placed on drug store shelves or grocery shelves but if diet pills are shown to be of danger to the public then the FDA does have the authority to pull them off shelves. Besides stores, purchasing diet pills online has become big business but really how safe are the diet pills or diet supplements you are buying? Are there best diet pills as well as bad diet pills? Some diet pills are cheap while others are pricier and some claim that pounds can be dropped almost instantaneously. Beware of diet pills that claim to be this good because dropping pounds too quickly is hazardous to your health. The heart is not geared to accommodate extremely rapid weight loss. |

The dietary supplement Bitter Orange is supposed to decrease the desire for food and it is often considered to be an “ephedra substitute” although it has been shown to cause the same health problems that ephedra does. Chitosan is geared at blocking the absorption of fat and has been shown to be one of the better diet pills in terms of its safety however it does not prove that effective for losing weight and may cause bloating and constipation to occur. Chromium is a mineral form of a diet pill that both builds muscle and decreases body fat but does not help a great deal with weight loss.
Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) claims to do three things all at once which include decrease body fat, reduce appetite and build muscle mass. CLA has been shown to be somewhat effective at decreasing body fat and building muscle but it does little to decrease a person’s overall amount of body weight. CLA has been shown to have side effects such as indigestion, diarrhea and other types of gastrointestinal problems. Diet pills with Ephedra are supposed to reduce appetite but ephedra is well documented to cause many serious health problems such as high blood pressure, seizures, heart attacks, strokes, sleeplessness and irregularities in heart rate. Ephedra in high quantities has even been known to cause death in some individuals. This diet pill ingredient has been banned but it still may legally be sold in the form of a tea for dieters. As well diet pills purchased online may still contain the ingredient ephedra. Green tea extract is another form of diet pill that is supposed to increase both fat and calorie metabolism as well as to reduce appetite. This herbal form of diet pill has not been well researched enough to yield any conclusive results. It is believed however to contain large amounts of caffeine and to be to blame for bouts of bloating, diarrhea, indigestion and vomiting. |
