Diet Coke
Coke and Diet Coke are considered to be the “market share leaders” when it comes to the family of soft drinks. Is Diet Coke bad for you? Diet coke is not good for those with diabetes and it can often lead to Diet Coke addiction if consumed in large quantities because the ingredients in the soft drink make it tempting to the taste buds. Diet Coke is sweetened with NutraSweet (aspartame) but the good news about the overall picture of Diet Coke is that is has less artificial sweeteners in it than do other types of Coke products. A Diet Coke commercial will clearly show the famous Diet Coke logo on a Diet Coke bottle or can which is known across the globe. Diet Coke has lots of company in the form of Diet Coke with Splenda, Coca-Cola Zero, Caffeine-Free Diet Coke and Coca-Cola Classic. Diet Coke cake is the latest thing in baked goods and many people swear by rum and Diet Coke for a relaxing Friday night although this delicious beverage is filled with calories. If you are a healthy weight and can afford the extra calories on an occasional basis then there is no reason not to indulge yourself sometimes. |

Unlike Coca-Cola which first appeared on the market in 1886, Diet Coke (which is sometimes referred to as Diet Coca-Cola) is a relatively new soft drink that premièred in July 1982 in the United States. It is the second product manufactured by the Coca-Cola Company after the original Coca-Cola. Diet Coke very quickly surpassed the sales of Tab. In some places in the world Diet Coke is called Coke Light or Coca-Cola Light.
Diet Coke is presently sold in 149 countries and in 46 of these countries it is called Coca-Cola Light because of the negative connotations of the word “Diet” in the name. The top five markets for Diet Coke include the United States, the United Kingdom, followed by Germany, Canada and finally, Brazil. At the present time Diet Coke is the number one selling sugar-free soft drink in the world, surpassing that of Diet Pepsi. Diet Coke gained market shares over the other leading soda in the year 2005 (9.8% to be exact). |
